Venom: The Priestly Family Review

So what do we do about this one? My kids think it’s the coolest looking thing since Thanos…I remember Venom from the comics and know of his potential gore and language…most of the reviews up till now are horrific…let’s break it down.

Let’s start with praise.  TOM HARDY is awesome.  His performance is as expected, great!  He voice’s Venom and plays against himself, perfect.  Michelle Williams is in it too and she’s pretty good as a supporting character…that’s about it.

Now for the rest: Unfortunately for the parents of 13 and under the language is pretty flagrant…the violence is…disappointing.  Venom is a brutal character and the movie stays PG-13 in that dept.  That is a major issue…the movie in order to honor the character NEEDS to be R.  So the rating really kills expectations more brutally than anything seen in the movie. Venom lacks any real substance and when compared to and Infinity War, Black Panther or Spider-Man Home Coming…it can’t.  Venom feels more like an older Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie from the 90’s mixed with the first attempt of the Hulk…mostly set at night and over all just not well lit.  I’m not taking the kids to see this one…nothing will be gained and nothing will be lost.  PS...This has nothing to do with the MCU.

I will say it’s the perfect counter movie to A Star Is Born, which is getting incredible buzz!  Sadly, I don’t predict the sequel teased at the end of the credits will ever see the light of day.
